ChemVolt Global Reaches Landmark Gigafactory Milestone, Finalizes Turnkey Partner for India's Next-Generation Lithium-ion Cell Manufacturing Facility

New Delhi: ChemVolt Global has achieved a major milestone in India’s rapidly expanding advanced battery manufacturing sector with the successful finalization of its turnkey technology and equipment partner for Phase I of its 5 GWh Lithium-ion Cell Manufacturing Gigafactory. The execution of the strategic agreement marks the transition of the project from planning to implementation and represents a significant step toward strengthening India’s domestic Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) manufacturing capabilities.

The first phase of the Gigafactory will comprise a 1 GWh fully integrated lithium-ion cell manufacturing facility, dedicated to producing 314 Ah LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) prismatic cells designed for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electric mobility, and other high-performance energy storage applications.
The manufacturing line has been engineered to deliver one of the highest energy densities currently targeted for commercial LFP prismatic cells, achieving 180 Wh/kg through advanced cell design, optimized materials engineering, and improvements in electrode chemistry. By incorporating premium raw materials and carefully selected electrolyte additives and conductive materials, ChemVolt aims to enhance energy density while reducing cell weight and maintaining the inherent safety, thermal stability, and long service life for which LFP chemistry is recognized.

The facility is expected to manufacture battery cells with the following key specifications:
• 314 Ah LFP Prismatic Cell
• Target Energy Density: 180 Wh/kg
• Guaranteed Cycle Life: More than 8,500 cycles
• Designed for utility-scale energy storage, electric mobility, and industrial applications
• Engineered to meet international standards for safety, quality, reliability, and performance With the turnkey agreement now executed, ChemVolt Global will commence the next phase of the project, including construction, equipment installation, commissioning, and production-line integration. Once operational, the Gigafactory is expected to strengthen India’s domestic battery manufacturing ecosystem, reduce dependence on imported cells, enhance supply-chain resilience, and support the country’s growing demand for advanced energy storage technologies.

The project aligns with India’s ambition to become a global manufacturing hub for Advanced Chemistry Cells while supporting the rapid expansion of renewable energy, electric mobility, and grid-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems. As demand for batteries accelerates worldwide—driven by artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centres, electrified transportation, and the global clean energy transition—domestic cell manufacturing is becoming an increasingly strategic industry.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Kuldeep Gupta, CEO of ChemVolt Global, stated:

“The execution of our turnkey agreement marks the beginning of a transformative chapter for ChemVolt Global and for India’s advanced battery manufacturing industry. Our vision extends beyond producing lithium-ion cells—we are building an integrated ecosystem that combines world-class engineering, advanced manufacturing, resilient supply chains, and continuous innovation. From Cell to Grid, our objective is to deliver globally competitive energy storage solutions that strengthen India’s energy security and position the country as a leading player in the global battery value chain.”

ChemVolt Global expressed its appreciation to its technology partners, advisors, investors, and stakeholders for their continued confidence and collaboration. The company reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a world-class Gigafactory that will contribute to India’s clean energy ambitions, industrial growth, and long-term technological leadership in advanced battery manufacturing.
