ChemVolt Global Explores €500 Million Clean Energy Investment Opportunities in Romania

New Delhi/Bucharest: 14/05/2026 ChemVolt Global Private Limited held high-level bilateral discussions with Mr. Ionuț Viziru, Minister Counsellor and Head of the Economic & Commercial Promotion Office of the Embassy of Romania in India, to explore strategic investment opportunities in renewable energy, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and advanced battery manufacturing, reinforcing the growing momentum of India–Romania cooperation in the clean energy sector.

During the meeting, Mr. Kuldeep Gupta, Founder & CEO of ChemVolt Global, presented his internationally acclaimed book, A Journey from Black Gold to White Gold: Oil to Lithium, highlighting his transition from the global oil and gas industry to championing clean energy and advanced battery technologies. He emphasized that energy security, decarbonization, and advanced manufacturing are becoming key pillars of global economic growth and sustainable development.

Mr. Viziru highlighted Romania’s strategic position as a gateway to the European Union, offering access to a market of over 450 million consumers, a stable investment environment, competitive industrial capabilities, and strong EU-backed investments in modernizing its energy infrastructure and expanding renewable power capacity.

Mr. Gupta also highlighted ChemVolt Global’s experience in developing a 500 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) connected to a 400 kV transmission substation in Romania. Building on this foundation, he expressed the company’s interest in investing in utility-scale solar power projects integrated with BESS and exploring the establishment of a 5 GWh lithium-ion cell manufacturing Gigafactory in Romania to support Europe’s growing battery manufacturing ecosystem and energy security.

Both sides agreed that stronger collaboration in renewable energy, energy storage, advanced manufacturing, and technology transfer presents significant opportunities for long-term economic growth and sustainable industrial development. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing strategic investments and strengthening India–Romania cooperation in support of Europe’s clean energy transition.
